Photography at Feis Culkin

Feis Culkin 2013

A reminder to all feis-goers that per the Feis Culkin and standard Irish dance competition rules, photography or video recording of a dancer competing is prohibited except in the beginner and advanced beginner categories unless specifically authorized by the feis committee. This includes the use of cameras on phones.

At Feis Culkin 2014, two photographers have been authorized to take pictures:  the official Feis Culkin photographer and the Washington Post.

The Washington Post will have a reporter and photographer on site at the feis.   They have received permission from the feis committee to interview and photograph dancers during the feis. The photographer will be asking for names and contact information for individuals photographed.  If the Post uses images of a dancer in their article, scheduled for publishing on November 30, the parents of those dancers under the age of 18 will be contacted for permission.

Official photos from Feis Culkin will be shared via social media on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and posted on Flickr.

Stage schedule and competition information

Select a link below to download the Feis Culkin stage schedule and list of split/combined competitions:

Please be sure to check the list of combined and split competitions as you look at the stage schedule. Thirteen grade level dances have been combined and seven have been split.

It is possible that smaller championship competitions will run concurrently to allow dancers time to rest/change shoes between rounds. Also, the younger championship competitions – up to and including U15 – should expect to dance 3 at a time in hard shoe competitions, as is the practice at major competitions.

Please check back for any further updates before Sunday!

Daylight Saving: Ends on Feis Culkin day

A big note for all attendees of Feis Culkin: Daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 2.  That’s Feis Culkin day.

So remember to “fall back” and take that hour to pack your bags and make sure your feis gear is ready to go.  Feis Culkin begins at 8:30 a.m. — don’t be late, but don’t get there TOO early because the clocks changed.

Feis Culkin has reached its registration cap

As of 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 27, Feis Culkin has reached its registration cap.

At this time, we will be wait-listing registrations for solo competitions — if entries that met the registration cap are not paid on time (7 days), dancers on the wait list will registered.

Figures dancers who missed registration will still be able to dance on their teams assuming at least part of the team is registered.

Please email feisculkinreg@gmail.com to be added to the wait list for solos or to register for teams.
