Feis Culkin 2008 Syllabus and Registration Information Now Online

We're a day or two early, but the 2008 Feis Culkin syllabus and registration information is now available here on feisculkin.info.

Registration will be on efeis.com beginning September 8, 2008 at approximately 8:00 a.m.
No registrations will be accepted by mail or phone.

Registration is limited to 800 competitors; registration will end when the entry limit is reached or at midnight October 10, 2008, whichever is first

Please take a look at the active links to the right for information including the Syllabus (with downloadable PDF and Word files), Registration Information, Travel Information and the Rules Governing Feis Culkin.

The list of adjudicators and musicians will be posted as soon as they are confirmed. Our stage schedule will be posted online by October 27.

October 22 - Registration changes accepted until this date
October 27 - Stage schedule available online

Feis Culkin 2008

The 2008 Feis Culkin will be held on Sunday, November 2nd at Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

We will post more information about the feis as registration nears. Typically, registration opens in late August.

Results from previous year, as well as travel information to the area, are currently available on this site. We look forward to seeing you in November!

By Special Request, the Feis Culkin Sugar Cookie Recipe

Fans of the sugar cookies at the Feis Culkin Bake Sale asked about the "wonderful" treats and the secret behind them.

Culkin mom Angela L's cookie recipe, which were cut to look like Irish dancers, follows after the jump.

1/3 cup butter flavored Crisco

1/3 cup butter, softened (use butter, not margarine)

3/4 cup sugar

1/2 tsp salt

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla

2 cups flour

1 tsp baking powder

Preheat oven to 375.

Cream Crisco, butter, sugar, and salt together. Add egg and vanilla and mix thoroughly. Add dry
ingredients and fold in until blended well. Divide dough into 2 or 3 sections, wrap each piece in
plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, longer if possible (This is a great dough to make 2 or 3 days ahead of time).

Roll out sections to about 1/4 inch thickness and cut into whatever shapes desired. Place shapes on "Pam" sprayed cookie sheet and bake for 7-10 minutes. Watch closely so they don't burn.
Cool completely before icing.
