Tickets are on sale now for Traidisiún: An Irish Dance Show
We're busy preparing our dancers for our upcoming full-length performance: Traidisiún: An Irish Dance Show.
Tickets are on sale now for the June 18 and June 19 8 p.m. performances at Montgomery College's Performing Arts Center on Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring.
Congratulations to Aleah J who qualified for Preliminary Championships with a win at the Comhaltas Irish Dance Festival (CCE Feis) over Memorial Day weekend!
At the Culkin School, we believe in teaching the basics properly and well in the early years of instruction – that is why we spend so much time in the first classes a dancer takes listening to the music, practicing turnout, etc.Good figures dancers do those basics well, so through our re-registration process we invite dancers who have had at least one full year, and sometimes two, of Irish dance experience to participate in the Figures program.
The Figures program at the Culkin School is intended to supplement the solo program. In other words, the figures class would be the second class of the week for the dancer. However, if a dancer has been with the Culkin School for at least two years, they can opt to take only the figures class.
With the spring feis season upon us, a round of congratulations go to three of our newest preliminary championship dancers - Alex P, Erika K and Tatijianna K. Keep up the good work!

Nothing like starting out the dance year with a bang! After the jump are 4 upcoming performances we hope will fit into your schedule. Please follow the link to the Yahoo! Group database to sign your dancer up for the shows. If you are having issues with Yahoo! (a few of you are, however, we've had many new Culkin families sign up in the last week, so thank you!), please email Nicki at nicki ~at~ culkinschool.com (replace the ~at~ with @) directly. If you are unsure of which troupe you are in, below is a description of material your dancer needs to have mastered for each troupe. Sean & Nicki will update the class assignments on the web in the next few weeks.

Thanks, too, to all the parents and family members of our dancers -- especially the first-time Oireachtas-goers. It takes a lot of coordination to get 100+ dancers to and from Florida. The hard work and dedication of the dancers and their supporters paid off! And a special thanks to our adult teams -- who were awarded the 4 and 8 hand championships for the 5th year in a row!
